Found Sounds (2011)
The Found Sound series is a collection of three short video experiments focused on interesting sounds encountered in cities. Each video is paired with a quote from a novel.
1) Toll
"There is something occulted inside us: our deaths. But something else is hidden there, lying in wait for us within each of our cells: the forgetting of death. In our cells our immortality lies in wait for us. It's common to speak of the struggle of life against death, but there is an inverse peril. And we must struggle against the possibility that we will not die."
2) Churn
"He suspected that somewhere, somehow, this new technology was stupid or lazy. some young engineer had taken a shortcut and failed to anticipate the consequences that he was suffering now. but because he didn't understand the technology, he had no way to know the nature of the failure or to take steps to correct it."
3) Rinse
"En el ocio reparador de la soledad, en cambio, las viudas descubrían que la forma honrada de vivir era a merced del cuerpo, comiendo sólo por hambre, amando sin mentir, durmiendo sin tener que fingirse dormidas para escapar a la indecencia del amor oficial, dueñas por fin del derecho a una cama entera para ellas solas en la que nadie les disputaba la mitad de su sábana, la mitad de su aire de respirar, la mitad de su noche, hasta que el cuerpo se saciaba de soñar con sus sueños propios, y despertaba solo."
